I loved your Unity Gain Series. Your "With the lines disappearing between pleasure and pain" poem was especially beautiful, and the imagery in your "Afflicted with pernicious anemia" poem blew me away. You make me very jealous, but at the same time you inspire me to get out a piece of paper right now and continue writing.

Me encantada...
You are truly a talented artist of a
refreshing plethora of works. From one poet to
another, I salute you. Although I haven't been
published more than once, it is inspiring to
see the many publications and accomplishments
of a good writer hard at work. Your paintings and
poetry are symbiotic harmonies of a mind riding
the many waves of cosmic inspiration.
Have a nice day :-)

Hmmm. . . Brilliant? Yes. I was in awe of this
whole site, you are extremely talented. I write
poetry (dare I call it that?) and have always
longed to draw, paint, and sculpt. I'm a fairly
creative person and I often get amazing ideas and
incredible images that are immensely disappointing
once commited to paper. I'ts quite frustrating.
These constraints probably give me an even deeper
appreciation for art/artists. I enjoyed the time
I spent here and will probably vist again soon.

In the past two months I´ve been surfing the net
looking for stuff about video art and video poems.
I had no idea that this trend started about 15 or
20 years ago. My background comes from information
systems (I have a bachelor´s degree), writing (I´ve
been writing poetry and tales since I was 12), and
a little of video production (I got a master´s degree
from Newhouse School of Public Communications in
Syracuse University). However I´m an amateur in terms
of producing video art. What would you say is the
basic equipment I need to get a decent quality in
terms of production values? A S-VHS camera? Could
I make it with a editing suite with straight cuts?
My only two pieces were shot on 16 mm film, transferred
to 3/4 tapes and edited using only cuts, fades and
dissolves. A voice-over, the reading of poems, was used
as the sound-track.
I have seen some very cool stuff using digital effects
and somehow that is intimidating.
Any comments will be highly appreciated.
Manuel
P.S. I´m going to get a Power PC in the school I
am working to see if I can download your work. The
normal Mac LC I have doesn´t have the resources.

I'M USING A JAVA BROWSER AND I SAW THE FREAKING SENTENCE YOU LAMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
BEAVIS <BEAVIS>
BEAIVS, BEAVIS JAPAN
You are probably running Netscape on a Windows 3.1 OS and not on Win 95 or NT.
If this is the case, Java Script will work but JAVA APPLETS WON'T. You will see the FREAKING SENTENCE until
java is implemented on Windows 3.1 or you move up to Win 95 or NT. Java applets also work on HP-UX, SGI IRIX,
SunOS 4.1, and Sun Solaris 2.3 and 2.4. and Mac OS. The logs also show that you are from Texas and
not Japan. You gotta know where you are and the capabilities of the software you are running.

Hi. My husband is interested in special effects and any info available on them.
Do you think you could send some addresses where he could get some info (ie. books, videos, pamphlets, etc.)
on the industry? Your stuff looks really cool. Where's a good school for learning the effects biz?
Any info you could offer would be of great help.
Thanks, Kelli

Try this, and type in "Special Effects".
I started in the biz by going through the Electronic Visualization Program at UIC. It's a masters program that was started by
Dan Sandin and Tom Defanti. Both these fellows are pioneers in Virtual Reality Research, Electronic Special Effects, and
Computer Animation. It was a profound experience for me...changed my life....

Arturo -
Reunion! What a splendid site of your own
you've got. Loved the pix of Jan, Sky, you and the
Pitts. My dad was an EAA freak - started building
a Whitman Tailwind almost 30 years ago, then
he traded that in for a Cessna 140 restoration job
around 1983... *after* gutting an Aeronica Champ
for parts.
Anyway, feels nice, almost like having family
online here. Hope you and yours are well. Keep in
touch. Will you be around for the next poetry
video festival at the Guild? I'm not producing/chairing
it anymore, but have a vested interest in
the genre. A producer from Toronto's coming in and
staying with me for the time, so this may be a
good time to network with people, too.
Be well, and keep in touch -

The audio clips play back in real-time if you have the i-wave audio plug-in installed,
so that you don't have to downloooooad the files.
Quicktime movies always take waaaay tooooo long to download. Can't wait for that great big high giga-bandwidth hose.
It will help once we can get Streamworks or some other real-time video streaming system working.

Your work is great.
I would realy like to use one of your images
(a1birthm.jpg) in my Church's page to illustrate
religious education in Unitarian Churches.
With your permission, I will copy the image into
our server and link the picture to your site.
Alternatively, I can just reference the picture on
your site and the user would load it at load time.
This would be more fragile (errors subject to
whether you move the original) but would preserve
the original at your site. Again, I would link back.
Are either of these options OK with you.
Thank you.

I just downloaded your Doom wad, and I think it is based on an
interesting idea. I've been thinking about Eastern symbols in Doom since
I read the first Doom novel, _Knee-Deep in the Dead_. This is a
paraphrase of the dialogue that got me thinking about it:
Arlene: The symbolism here proves that they've been studying Earth
carefully and figuring out ways to scare us.
Fly: What makes you say that? Maybe Earth's scary symbols came from
previous visits from them, or something.
Arlene: No, these symbols aren't designed to scare *Earthlings*. They're
designed to scare *Westerners*. If they had invaded the Japanese mining
colony, for example, this place would use very different symbols.
Anyway, I'll let you know how I liked the Wad. Nice pictures, by the way.
Thanks
